Art gallery by day, night club by dusk, Proud Camden is home to the eccentric.
The nightclub is situated in the heart of Camden Town. Proud features a number of acts nightly, including live music and cabaret. It occupies a number of stalls in the Camden Stables and clubgoers even have the opportunity to rent one of the uniquely-themed stables; just make sure you have upwards of 30 friends to share it with!
Words to the wise:
- Put your name on the online guestlist before 10 p.m. that night. This will save you money and allow you to skip the queues.
- Take the flyer from that pesky club promoter. At Proud, it will save you at least £2 on the regularly £8-£10 cover, of which you can later use on a drink.
- Speaking of drinks, they’re expensive. Plan to spend upwards of £4 for a beer and between £6-£8 for a mixed drink.
- Saturdays are Cabaret Night. Expect to see scantily clad women in hula hoops, and potentially some fire.
Don’t be misled by the prices. Some of my favorite London memories stem from nights spent at Proud. The atmosphere is youthful and fun, and there’s always that emblematic N28 night bus to take you home in the wee hours.
Getting There: Take the Northern Line to Camden Town. If you’re situated in central London, this will take some time. Factor in as long as 45 minutes to an hour to get there.
